Artist Rik Nelson's Portfolio of
Fantastic Fish Fabricated from Post-Consumer Recyclables

Bulltrout

Welcome! All the fish displayed here are handmade from post-consumer recyclables—bottle caps, popcorn, cookie and candy tins, aluminum soda, beer and fruit juice cans, and plastic (from shampoo bottle, motor oil containers, yogurt cups, etc.). Even most of the plywood on which these materials are mounted is recycled from The Habitat Store.

Fish Construction
The fish are sturdy (two coats of paint on the plywood backing, commercial-grade tin and aluminum, plus plastic with the longevity of, probably, Methuselah). If hung outside, a shaded area (like on a wall under an eave or some other semi-protected area) is best and putting them up in the spring and moving them inside for the winter should maintain them quite nicely.

Display Options
Whether displayed in your home or at the lake, inside or outside, singly or in “schools,” the fish show beautifully. To see examples, click here.
